Tips for dressing a fuller figure
Whether you buy a ‘little black dress’, or a suit or an evening gown, an all-black ensemble in different textures with a hint of sparkle will bring out the best in your figure.
2. Find the right combination of tight and loose.
If you only opt for baggy clothing, you may end up looking and feeling frumpy. Find clothing that fits snug around you in places and is more forgiving in places you need a little pick-me up in.
3. Comfortable jeans.
Invest in a quality pair of dark wash jeans with a slight stretch to keep you looking fabulous and comfortable. Avoid ripped and faded options which may highlight areas you want less attention drawn to.
4. Don’t skimp on your shapewear.
Shapewear is your friend. Invest in comfortable and supportive garments which adds to your confidence on the inside and out.
5. Tailor your clothes.
Attempt to have your clothes made specifically to your measurements, have your blazers and pants tailored to keep you looking flawless – no matter what you wear.
6. Plus size is not a body shape.
We are all different, find out what shape your body is and find clothing options that accentuate your best bits – just because you are a fuller size doesn’t necessarily mean you should find empire waists or A-line everything! Dress for your shape.
7. Celebrate your body.
Don’t hide your figure in baggy clothing, avoid clothing that is worn through, ill-fitting, faded or soiled. Dress yourself in the best to feel your best.
8. Pay attention to your shoes.
Wedges accentuate all leg shapes but avoid ones with ankle straps. Don’t be afraid to wear a heel. Pumps or kitten heels in shades similar to your skin tone will make you look taller.
9. Wear shades that highlight your skin tone.
Establish what your skin tone is and which colour shades enhance your tone. Looking healthier with the right tones of clothing goes a long way to looking and feeling beautiful.
10. Shop for your measurements and not the label size.
Don’t conform to wearing a size 14, 16 or 18 and only shop those sizes. Shop for your measurements as sizing guides are not a good indicator of what your body shape sings in.
